Self Employed/ Consultant -First Aid Instructor (Outside IR35)

Location: Various sites across the South West (predominantly Devon - Exeter/Plymouth)

We are looking to take on a First Aid Instructor for one day a week (or equivalent hours) to run CPR/AED training sessions for Jay’s Aim – Helping Young Hearts.  The role falls outside of IR35 and will be on a self-employed/consultancy basis.

The Role

This is a fantastic opportunity for a qualified first aid instructor to work for a charity who are making a real difference in South West England.   Jay’s Aim training sessions focus on giving learners the basic skills and knowledge needed to react in the event of a sudden cardiac arrest.  The charity uses a mix of videos, instructor led training and role play situations to ensure our sessions are as current, relevant and flexible for schools, sports clubs and community groups as possible.  Our training is unique as we cater for large groups of people giving each learner the opportunity to work with their own CPR manikin in a less formal setting than some more traditional first aid establishments.

A typical Jay’s Aim CPR/AED training session takes place in a school/sports club, catering for 35 learners and lasting for approximately 1 hour.  Training sessions in schools often take place back to back to cater for the typical timings of a school day, whereas training sessions in sport clubs are often run in the evening or at weekends.

Requirements

The successful candidate will need to have a first aid instructor qualification (awarded by a recognised regulated organisation).  The candidate should have experience of working with a wide range of different age groups from a range of diverse backgrounds.  They will need to hold a full UK driving licence and be happy driving to locations across the SW in our small van (commuting time from our base in Newton Abbot will be paid).  You will also be required to have an enhanced DBS check to allow you to work with children.  Previous experience of working with school groups would be advantageous but not essential.

The successful candidate needs to be able to build a good rapport with people of all abilities and ages.  They will be able to promote the charities objectives in a confident manner whilst being able to manage and organise any unexpected changes to the training environment.

The applicant will need to be able to work a range of flexible hours and must be eligible to work in the UK without restrictions.  All equipment other than a laptop will be provided.

Please contact us for details on pay rates.
